Boot loader issue on NUC5PPYH

Ok so I have installed the OS and it works fine, But when i reboot i have to have the installation sd card inserted. I am assuming that is because the boot loader is getting installed on the sd card. The thing is even if I tell it to install the boot loader on /dev/sda (my internal ssd) it still puts it on the sd card. I even tried locking the sd card to read only and trying the install again. Nothing has worked so far.

Hi @Tate_Porter,

try “Boot Repair”:

https://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair-cd/home/Home/

That program does not take to well to being burned to a usb stick. I dont have a cd drvie.

It’s not supposed to be burned to a USB stick. Just install it in your OS.
I think it’s possible it’s also present by default in the live USB, under the “Troubleshooting” section of the Welcome Screen, or something like that

https://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair-cd/home/Home/

It states at #2 in the above link about burning it to USB with Rufus or Unetbootin!.

OK. Thank you for your help guys! Turns out unetbootin for mac doesn’t work right and boot repair disk needing a usb 2.0 device and port, Which on the NUC all the usb ports are usb 3.0 so ended up having to put ubuntu 16.04 back onto the sd card so i could use the NUC to make the boot repair disk.
After all of that we are now up and running without that pesky sd card having to hang out the side of my device.
