Cannot unlock computer

Hello. Since a couple of days ago, I cannot unlock my PC if it gets locked. If I log in I get kicked back into the lock screen, so I have no choice but to restart. I already did apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade but it didn’t fix the issue. I’m using Ubuntu MATE 17.10. Any help on how to fix this?

Hi @Magnusmaster,

try running “dpkg” per the update guide (a network cable connection is required!):

Is there any way to do that without going into recovery mode? I don’t have a network cable, every PC in my house is connected via WiFi.

You might try switching users in the lock screen. That’ll take you back into the login screen. Maybe this will work to get you in.

I already click on Switch User to unlock because sometimes there is no focus on the password textbox and it is impossible to focus it (another bug). I still get kicked back to the lock screen anyways.

Well rats! It was worth a try.

Hi @Magnusmaster,

beg; borrow or steal (only kidding) a network cable, it would be worth your while to try it!.

Looks like updating to 18.04 fixed it! Great!
