NVIDIA CUDA Installation 16.04 LTS

Hello All,

I recently installed Ubuntu Mate 16.04 on one of my workstations and noticed that it doesn’t have CUDA in any of its repositories (i.e. no “apt-get install cuda”) as compared to the standard Ubuntu 10.06. I am writing this up a documentation based post on how to get CUDA properly working on Ubuntu Mate. I will update this post later today with the nitty gritty details about the process once I have tested everything out.

Hi,

Unless wanting to install a specific version of CUDA for development/other testing, installing the proprietary NVIDIA driver also installs CUDA in one easy step. This is confirmed by being able to GPGPU render with Blender.
