Does your username need to be in the scanner group? I don’t have a scanner but trying to think of what else could be the issue … if your username is simone, sudo usermod -a -G scanner simone will add that user to the group scanner. Logout/login and try to scan …

I solve by my self, the problem was the corruption of the firmware of my HP Deskjet 2540, but I had to use a windows pc because the HP manual indicate the process to renew the firmware only by mac os or windows os. Thanks a lot to all that attempted to help me.
