The DAW software called ardour

i notice it pops up in the software place. has anyone been able to configure that to run inside mate?
really curious about how that can be handled. thank you very much in advance.

Hi wildknees

Have you checked the requirements?

http://ardour.org/requirements.html

Thats about all I can tell you since I do not use this software.

Hi @wildknees,

its in the Ubuntu (Mate) 16.04 repo's so it should work!:

okay i’ll dive in. i had read somewhere else that JACK was needed and that the standard distro audio sw had to be disabled or something. i see none of that info pops in the requirements list. that would be so great if i could figure out how to run ardour on a mate set up. perhaps all that was resolved.

I run Ardour4 in UM 16.04

I installed it as part of the Ubuntu studio meta package. If you wanted to do it that way, follow the instructions here:

this worked holy cow!
i have a lot of work to do to configure but i was able to run this in the terminal, and get audio into ardour very quickly.

Glad it worked for you. Just make sure to look in your system/administration menu for "Ubuntu Studio controls" and set yourself to the audio group and ensure "realtime audio" is checked as well.
