150gb to 1500gb USB powered external drives not recognised on Mate 18.04.1

External drives USB powered, eg Seagate Freeagent Go -250gb, (and other USB3 similar) are not recognized by my Mate 18.04.1. Does the o/s have the drivers?

How are the external disks formatted? fat, ntfs, ext4 …

Can’t see, but I think NTFS from Win7 and Win10
