17.10 won't install properly

Hi There,

I installed now twice 17.10 from an USB flash drive’s live system to an HDD and the system is not complete. The welcome screen and Software boutique are missing, no browser is installed.

I installed the system plain tonthe drive with the first option in the install menue and including the option to update while installing.

Does anybody know why that is?

The version obtained here is likely to be the source of your problem(s). Please try downloading from here.

17.10 is definitely experimental at the moment as there is a bug in a library that causes Welcome/Software Boutique to display blank windows. Hopefully that will be addressed before Beta 1.

The daily builds have installed fine for me on virtual machines. I think there was a blank welcome once, but it showed up after an initial update and reboot.

You can install Firefox and the boutique from the command line.

Thanks. That was the solution. But 16.04 is right now working much better on my T410. But 17.10 has still time to mature. Thanks all devs for the great work on UM.
