Hello Forum,
since yesterday I try playing around with Ubuntu Mate 16.04.3.
At the side panel from my all in one monitor, there are 2 volumen keys for sound volumen.
After installing the operating system, both keys working proper but after the first system update only the upper button for raising volumen works, the other stop working.
The additional volumen key on the keyboard for raising and lowering volumen are working without any issues.
I don’t find any settings for setup the sidepanel key.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Andy
I’m still looking for a solution on this and with a fresh install without any updates I tried “showkey -s” and it says, the keycode for lowering volume is: 0xe0 0x2e 0xe0 0xae and for raising volume is: 0xe0 0x30 0xe0 0xb0
After system update only volume rasing will button work: 0xe0 0x30 0xe0 0xb0
Is there a way to combine the button on side panel with the one on the keyboard?
I didn’t find a solution, I installed the previous kernel
This problem still happens with all new kernels and with new MATE 18.04.1 (Bionic). I use the buttons quit often. Therefore, it annoys me if they do not work and I would like to upgrade to the newer version or kernel.
Summarized:
Both hardware volume keys (DELL InspironOne 2310) on side Panel working with an old kernel but after updating kernel/ MATE 18.04.1 the button for lowering volume is dead and didn't showing off a keycode.
Is there any approach for solution? (I am glad that I started with an old kernel, otherwise I might have stayed with Windows ;-))
