All the way up 16.04.2, STILL can't get gf108 hdmi as a sound option

I’m experiencing very bad sound lag. Mate is the problem, I experience no out of sync sound when using the same board for openelec. I used hdmi_drive=2 to get sound in the first place, but its ALSA. Would very much like to make use of digital sound and or Pulseaudio.

Im using a raspi 3, with mate 16.04.2.

I ran this command and found that no video card is detected. SInce the audio is going thru the HDMI, that would mean that HDMI isn’t being detected, right? SO what’s the next step in troubleshooting?
