Backup options inquiry

I read where Clonezilla is wasteful and time consuming as a means of backing up.

What are better options?

I am interested in restoring my installed programs and customizations.

I used BackUp to backup my home directory.

What situations could arise where I would use it to restore?

Thanks.

Hello,

Here what I’m using:

For one shot backup: Back In Time

For packages, applications, dconf, … : Aptik

For incremental backup: Borgbackup

For all changes made in /etc: etckeeper

There is Timeshift which seems to be a good solutions too working with btrfs or fs hard links. I don’t have tested yet because I will never use btrfs again and prefer LVM snapshot.

Kind regards

I installed the cli and gui version of Aptik.

How do I get it to autostart on each bootup?
