I have the exact same errors on my laptop, except the desktop icons do briefly appear and immediately disappear once in a while, and the menu applet on the left of the top taskbar unfolds as normal but folds back after a couple seconds.
The system worked perfectly fine with version 22.10 before upgrading to 23.04 beta.
