I’m copying files from Ubuntu MATE (17.10) to a NAS in folders shared through Samba. I get copy errors on files that have special characters in their names (like “?”, “:” or “*”). The destination directory is on an ext4 partition AFAIK.
EDIT: for some reason, I just got the same issue with a file that has no special chars. It has a long name, though. If I shorten it, I can copy it. Renaming it (to the original long name) from the Caja window with the mounted Samba share doesn’t work (same error) but doing it from the web interface of the NAS works.
Anybody knows if this is a design limitation of Samba, a bug in Samba or a bug in Caja?
