Can't open trash

I am running Ubuntu Mate 16.04. When I attempt to open the trash (left click), Eye of Mate is launched, and it displays an error message: No images found in ‘trash:///’. The same thing happens if I do a right click and then click on “Open Trash”. How to fix this?

From time to time, the System, Preferences, Personal, Preferred Apps goes wonky. I have no idea why this keeps happening.

I would imagine that in your Preferred Apps, the System, File Manager tab (for some damned reason) shows Eye of Mate. You should be able to change it back to Caja using the drop down menu.

Good luck Roger.

Thank you, Michael, that solved the problem just dandy.
