Chromium continues to take 160% cpu forever after page finishes loading.
Strangely enough I can replicate the issue from Ubuntu Mate 14.04 LiveCD (just boot, apt-get update and apt-get install chromium-browser from it) but not from regular Ubuntu LiveCD, so it looks like it might be Mate-related.
Any help regarding this issue very much welcome, in particular it’d be helpful to know if others are affected as well.
Have you tried installing notscript or script safe or some other Chromium equivalent of noscript?
I have Chromium but Firefox is my main browser and noscript made a huge difference to my Firefox. Some web pages were causing me all kinds of problems. I think they were trying to load too many ads stuff I don’t want them to be able to run anyway, so noscript was just the thing for me.
Hi
I take it you tried other browsers?
Even when page finishes loading it doesn’t mean it’s inactive.
Maybe it’s some runaway javascript, something wrong with the facebook page.
Nothing wrong with the facebook page: Firefox has no problems with it, the same page in the same Chromium browser works fine in Ubuntu under Unity, and Windows+Chrome is fine with it too.
Looks like a bug with the chromium package on non-Unity desktops to me …
