Compaq Mini 700EL - Broadcom b43 drivers

Hi there,
this is my first time using linux and I am very happy that I successfully installed Ubuntu MATE on my old 32bit mini PC.

The only problem I have is with the Wi-Fi card that really doesn't want to work. I tried to install the drivers manually but it doesn't appear to work. I also went in the "other drivers" tab in software updates but and when I click on activate driver the prograss bar gets stuck.

Can someone please be so kind to help me with the procedure?

Thanks.

I am not sure I can be helpful but I have a broadcom driver and have had no problems.
I use the program hardinfo to find my exact broadcom driver which is a BCM 4313 802.1
I then use Synaptic to check or install my proper driver, bcmwl-kernel-source, though their are other drivers for other broadcom wifi cards. Click on properties for find the correct one for your wifi card. Then I used a wire to my router to install the proper driver. Ubuntu provided the correct drivers for my laptop on installation, but I have used this method on Debian which will not as it is a proprietary broadcom driver .

Please see this tip concerning Broadcom wireless driver installs.
