Ctrl behaviour weirdness

Hello. I can´t figure why when about to rename a file in Caja pressing CTRL (for example to select all, copy or paste a name) gets me out of rename mode, as if I had pressed ESC key? There’s also other strange CTRL behaviours: I used to summon gnome-do with Ctrl+Space but now I have to hold Ctrl and press Space twice to make it appear. Neither of these situations happened before, I don’t know what I could have done to cause this. Thanks

Hi @Staynluss,

have you checked in Control Center > Hardware > Keyboards and looked to see if you only have your default language layout?.

I can’t reproduce the CTRL behavior using UM16.04.1 w/ MATE 1.12.1.
What version of MATE are you using?
(Please provide output of inxi -S)

@wolfman my keyboard layouts are the same as they’ve always been.

@ouroumov bit earlier distro version but same mate version. Here’s the
output of inxi -S (thanks for letting me know about this useful
command BTW):
System: Host: user1-Satellite-L755D Kernel: 4.4.0-21-generic x86_64
(64 bit) Desktop: MATE 1.12.1 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

Might be some other program messing with the normal shortcuts, such as compiz.
What Window manager are you using? (Check in MATE Tweak -> Windows -> Window Manager)

Edit: also it seems your machine is not up-to-date seeing the kernel you’re running is 4.4.0-21 and current kernel is 4.4.0-47. Please update your machine.

The other one different from compiz, I believe it’s Marco, right?
(will edit post when I check but it’s certainly not compiz as I always
disable fancy stuff to keep the system light)

indeed it’s “marco: no compositor” @ouroumov

“please update your machine” Do you mean this could be a kernel bug?
Do you want me to update just the kernel (for security reasons I
guess, right?) or the whole OS to replace any messed up config files
and packages for fresh new ones?
