Data Media Conversion Box

Hi from Washington DC.

I very much appreciate how MATE will run on an older PIII; to that end, here at work we are using one to build a dedicated media conversion computer — we often have folks coming here asking us to extract data, recipes, voice recordings etc from floppy disks and ZIP disks, and cook them to CD or DVD media.

All the connections are there on the MoBo for these drives. My question is: Just how involved is it going to be to get MATE to “see” a ZIP drive? These things aren’t exactly current or popular devices right now.

A P3? Way to go!!! Is it a single socket P3? Could you show us your specs?

I believe that command will pick up on your zip drive, if its seen by the system.
