Hi @steven, I couldn't agree more on the niceties of netinst.iso.

I've been playing with Debian stables in VMs for quite a while and can suggest this site to tweak apt sources from quite a list of repos: https://debgen.simplylinux.ch/

I'm finding MATE 1.20.4 on Buster runs very well so far. Like many here I'm not happy at all with the snap implementation. No it's not package sizes or the snap concept but purely the Microsoft/Google/Apple attitude of updating.

A screenshot of Debian 10 MATE in a new virtual machine manager I've been testing named virt-manager. It is based on QEMU/KVM and quite different from VirtualBox, but seems to be well integrated into Debian 10.
