Hi! So after hopping from distro to distro over the past few years I’ve finally settled on Ubuntu MATE! It’s fantastic! I used the fallback session of Ubuntu for a while, and loved it! It was the closest thing to the Ubuntu I remembered from years ago - it was not without it’s fair number of bugs though. I was thrilled when I first installed MATE, and noticed how stable it was - and none of the previously mentioned bugs were anywhere to be found.
I do need a little bit of guidance with one thing though. I’ve exhausted all of my Google-fu trying to figure this out. I want to replace Caja, with Thunar. I was so far able to install Thunar, and set it as my default file manager without any issues. Where I’m having trouble is the fact that Caja still manages the desktop, and opens any folders located on it with Caja - instead of Thunar. Caja also is still in charge of opening “Computer” from the MATE panel, and I can’t figure out how to change that.
There is nothing wrong with Caja, and I find it to be a great file manager - however I am more versed with Thunar, and would prefer to use that instead.
