Eye of Mate green tinted photos Edit

Hi,
Some of my photos edited in darktable or recived from someone are green and colors are strage.
The same photos opened in firefox are normal.
Ubuntu Mate 17.10.
I submited a launchpad bug but with no response.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1728374

Based on the description, I assume it’s an issue related to files saved as CMYK (instead of RGB) and/or an embedded ICC profile. Some image viewers (on various platforms) have issue with these and I encountered that kind of situation on Linux a few years ago. I can’t remember if it was with EOG (Eye of GNOME) or gThumb but I wouldn’t be surprised if the exact same issue would affect EOM as it’s a fork of EOG.

To check this, you can try to open one of the photos with Krita (unlike GIMP, it handles CMYK pictures). If it displays fine, try to convert it as RGB and save a copy (don’t overwrite your original photo: if you use Darktable, I assume that you tweak and tune them to some extent and this might screw your work), then check if that copy displays fine with EOM.

Thank you for this hint.
I found that my images are exported in BGR profile when i change that format in gimp to sRGB the colors are fine.

I didn’t even know that BGR color space was a thing, but it looks like it’s been used by some cameras manufacturers. Not sure how widespread it is and if we can expect a fix in EOM.

You should probably complete your bug report to add that the faulty pictures use a BGR color space, though.

I think it was a darktable problem. Only a photos edited between May an July are affected. Before Ubuntu Mate is was using ubuntu gnome 17.04 and the problem wasn’t visible.
My wifes laptop with linux mint is also showing photos from the period of time as tinted.
