Find files in hidden directories

I found out that Mate Search Tool can not find files in hidden dirs.

Is there a GUI search tool that can ?

Thanks.

Your best bet is regexxer, it will be in the repositories. sudo apt-get install regexxer

http://regexxer.sourceforge.net/

Thanks a lot for the recommendation.

I clicked on the Search Tool, in the Available Options I selected Show Hidden and Backup files, clicked on Add, then searched for blue and it shows me that it was able to travel into dot dirs and find a couple files.

Thanks.

My mistake…Idid not scroll down far enuf to see those options.

I did a search for *.conf using 'Show hidden files."

It found no files though there are some. ??

I found catfish which is a little easier to use.

Actually, do any of these tools find just folders? Just wondering.

Both Catfish and Seach tool finds both files and text within files.

Looking for text is very slow if you are searching the entire drive.

What if one also wishes to look for folders? Not just files or text within files?

It finds folders also.

Try it out.

It’s under Apps/Accesories.
