Firefox says "Your browser is being managed by your organisation."

Firefox says "Your browser is being managed by your organisation." I don't want any organisation controlling Firefox, since I am interested in security.

It makes me not have confidence in Ubuntu MATE.

How can I fix this problem.

Didn't say your version but this discusses it on 22.04

Thanks very much for your reply.

Please note that Ubuntu Gnome 22.04 does not have this problem, even though it gets it Firefox as a snap application also.

It is Ubuntu MATE 22.04 that I am referring to for this question, but when I click on that statement, that is, "Your browser is being managed by your organisation," this is what I get:

Policy Name Policy Value
Homepage URL "https://start.ubuntu-mate.org/"
Locked false
StartPage "homepage"

Is this the only thing that was changed, and how can I be sure? Also, how can I delete this so that it no longer has any control?

Thanks very much for your patience.

OK In my post above I am on UM22.04 also. That aside leads to question do you have Firefox now as snap?
I do not get that message but I am using a tar package which I changed to with the help of this post:

https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/firefox-installation-guide-non-snap/25299/22

When I upgraded from UM20.04 which had snapd removed, had to again remove it due to reinstalling itself as referenced in the post. Also have removed flat0ak for similar loss of control.

Thanks again. I plan to try it---see if it works for me.
