Flash not working in Firefox, Chromium or Chrome

This is when trying to play a BBC iplayer video. But, I have noticed it on a few other sites.

Specifically:

Anyone else having this problem?

That particular clip was not available at my location but I was able to play others. One of the videos I played was this -

Me too,

Tom petty plays and Mary J Blige doesn’t.

I installed this:

pepperflashplugin-nonfree

and the Mary J Blige one works now on Chromium. But, still does not work on Chrome or Firefox.

Steve, this is what I have in FF 56.0 64 bit as far as plugins -

As far as I can tell, the BBC Mary J. Blige won't play for me as I am located in northern California, US of A, not Great Britain. Good luck on this business.

That’s odd. your version of flash in firefox appears to be more recent than mine. Mine is:

Shockwave Flash 13.1 r2

I think that I installed flash from the Software Boutique. Yes...

It is probably the second thing that I do in an installation procedure after letting Software Updater do its' job and reboot. It is so damn easy and other than having to input my password several times as it does its' job, it's a no brainer as far as I can tell.

I also installed Flash from there. So, how come my version is different yours?

I am using Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS 64 bit, by the way.

So am I. I'm going to look at Synaptic...

Is this what you have? I'm running the 4.4.0-96-generic kernel if that makes any difference.

Ok, so that's weird. In Synaptic my version is the same as yours. Even though they read as different in Firefox

One thing to note is that this is a fresh re-install of UM done the other day and Firefox says it is version 56. But, I have just followed the link in the "help" tab and the Firefox site informs me this version was released in late September. just a week or so back:

Version 56.0, first offered to Release channel users on September 28, 2017

Similar problem here in OZ. The ABC’s iView requires a genuine Flash (pepper does not
work). It is not in the repos. However it IS in the Ubuntu (main) repos because Mint 18.2
shows - and it works. Mate 16.04-2 on Raspberry PI 3B.

@stevecook172001 My recommendation is to uninstall all other versions of flash if you have more than one. Pepperflash comes to mind. Restart FF and see what version of flash is reported in Plugins.
