Gnomesplit in Mate 16.04 64bit

Does anyone have any idea how to get this to work on Mate 16? I tried and it installs fine but i cannot get the program to run.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to any / all that might take the time to reply

I am running Mate 16.04 LTS ( the newest version)

So I don't get it.
I've typed in my terminal:

sudo apt install gnome-split

Then in the terminal, typed "gnome-split"

Screenshot (Thanks for the trick @lah7)

Also shows up in the main menu under Applications -> Accessories. It works fine from there too.

I'm also using Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS.

Tried that . Typed sudo apt-get install gnome-split and it installs fine
and it is listed in Applications/accessories but never opens after being
selected.

Has me stumped

if i type sudo gnome-split in a terminal i get this on the screen as it
launches:

john@john-ThinkPad-T430:~$ sudo gnome-split
[sudo] password for john:
DANGER: Gtk-WARNING, Theme parsing error: gtk-main.css:69:33: Failed to
import: Error opening file: No such file or directory

I found what works on my system and it was kinda easy BUT i never had this happen on ANY flavor of Ubuntu in the past . I just had to change the default theme to another and the program works fine. For some unknown reason the default theme on my Lenovo T430 is not working / is broken or has errors for this particular machine. Could be the Nvidia display drivers that are causing the issue. FYI to anyone else who runs this hardware.

OK, since you have a clear path to reproduce you might wanna consider submitting a bug report. :)

Cheers

will do that shortly. Thanks for the help.

But file the bug against gnome-split, those errors are because it is attempting to use deprecated GTK APIs. It is not an Ubuntu MATE issue

Since i am pretty new to linux i will do as asked a bit later on today .
Thanks for the info by the way

reported the bug to the author’s home page via launcher and ubuntu one

Thanks again to all who offered assistance
