OK I know it is not a UM issue
But I am asked to join some Google Meet meetings from time to time
Up to a few days ago it did work fine with Firefox (up to last update I guess)
Now it stalls at Camera and mike activation.
No issue with Brave though. And other similar video-call tools do (still) work fine with Firefox...
So... I have other and not complicated alternatives
But was just wondering if others here had this same issue.
Rgds to all

p.s. I know about clearing cache and all the other trouble shooting tricks Google suggest and tried them

Hmm there may be something to do with Firefox using pipewire
regression from 1.2.5 to 1.2.6 for camera listing (#4389) · Issues · PipeWire / pipewire · GitLab
Also - as far as I am informed - google meet is more in tune with chromium based browsers so it may be some updates on their end aren't integrated with Firefox in time
Another thing, since you've said it stalls at camera and microphone activation may be an indication of your media permissions or backend integration breakage so I'd suggest you to check for permissions in Firefox, see the settings for camera etc.
Do let us know if you've managed to find a solution

All permissions in Firefox are fine.
I found this. Best compromise on Ubuntu. And avoiding getting under the hood for a solution.
Installing Meet as a Progressive Web App: Download the Google Meet Progressive Web App on your computer - Google Meet Help
It runs as a separate app to the browser itself.
To install the PWA, I used Brave, not Chrome. Going to meet.google.com and clicked Install (top right of the browser)
The Meet icon appears in my Applications/other
And it works

Brave is a good chromium based browser, it works especially well on mobile phones when you want your youtube to actually have a working add blocker
I also had some issues with firefox in earler versions with some programs as it would have a blue tint instead of white background on some random portals and sites and it just went away with a random update so I never found out what was that about - so even though I use firefox mainly I know it cannot be the only browser on my desktop and always in pair with a decent chromium based alternative, used to be opera, now is brave and considering vivaldi if brave starts with shenanigans
