Is it possible to put together I list of some sort of laptops that members have put UM on and just mention what works.

for example I was looking at the stream machines and wondering, “Will MATE work well on it?”

Moderators, can you start preparing a template for capturing compatible hardware in the Staff area please? When finalised we can make available to all.

Key areas are :- Wifi, GPU/Display, Bluetooth, Ethernet, Keyboard[Function keys]

Mine works perfect!..but I cheated, it’s a system76.

Would also add:

  • does suspend work?
  • is hibernate available and, if it is, does it work?
  • does suspend on closing the laptop lid/resume on opening it work?
  • sound
  • built-in pointing device (touchpad, trackpoint etc.)
  • keyboard backlight
  • second monitor

(“Sound” because, although I have never had any problems, there are occasional reports of crackling)

And some hardware options like BIOS/UEFI mode, RAID… etc I had issues with

I just ordered a 200GB HDD off eBay for my HP Compaq NX6325 laptop. :grin: Then I can run and test Ubuntu MATE full time. :smile:

Ubuntu MATE working on my HP Compaq NX6325 laptop with and AMD Sempron 3400+ and 2.8 GB of ram. I have not updated the BIOS. Suspend works.

What does not work:

  • Files copy slowly from USB thumb drive
  • Sometimes touch pad does not respond
