Great news @Wimpy. But 14.04 will continue to be unofficial, won’t it?

@rohithmadhavan Yes, 14.04 will remain unofficial.

If 14.04 is unofficial, @Wimpy, is 14.10 unofficial as well?

@Glyph_Reader Ubuntu MATE 15.04 will be the first official Ubuntu flavour release and each subsequent release (ie 15.10, 16.04 LTS etc) will also be official, since Ubuntu MATE has now gained status as an official Ubuntu flavour, joining Ubuntu GNOME, Kubuntu, Lubuntu etc. However, 14.04 LTS and 14.10 will still remain unofficial, although the former (14.04 LTS) will continue to be supported till 2019. For more information on the advantages associated with being an official flavour, you can have a look at this topic.

What @rohithmadhavan said. Spot on my friend

This is fantastic news.

In that case, when the official release of Ubuntu MATE 15.04 comes out, I’ll switch to it for sure. Thanks!
