I am on Google Chrome using Classic theme. I have mscore fonts installed as well and cache refreshed. The fonts in the right click, menus, even inside a lot of pages, the tab titles etc are not classic google chrome though and seem to have been replaced by the defaults in UbuntuMate. How do I change this to get the original fonts back?

have you been to “chrome://settings/fonts” to select new fonts after installing?
AFAIK, by default open-source fonts are substituted for their MS Core fonts equivalents, even if the MS Core fonts are installed. fontconfig
controls this and a lot of other font settings. The best documentation I’ve found for it is on the Arch Linux wiki.
