I just installed Ubuntu MATE 18.04, and I cannot find a way to add a “Shutdown” or “Suspend” button to the taskbar like in Xfce. The “Indicator Applet Complete” does have a kind of system button, but I have to click once more to actually trigger an action. On my previous Xfce setup, I used to have one button at the bottom-right to lock & suspend, and another one at the bottom-left to shutdown. Those have proved very convenient over the years.
I did find on the Internet some traces of “panel buttons”, but I haven’t found them yet. Can someone help?
It looks like the “Shut Down…” applet will do nicely for powering down, thanks.
However, the suspend option is not the same. I am used to suspend and lock with a single click (I do that several times a day). I am trying Ubuntu MATE in a KVM virtual machine now, which does not properly support suspending. On a normal PC or laptop, would suspend also lock the screen?
Is there a key combination for suspend+lock screen?
