How to enable SPI (spi-bcm2708) with MATE?

Hi,

For raspbian, I had to remove spi-bcm2708 from modprobe blacklist but I did not find the equivalent in MATE.

Check out this link rpi3-and-i2c-spi.

I have tested it on the rpi3 UM16.04 and it works. This example is for I2C but use it with modifications to enable the SPI. Good Luck.
