Hi, Skype did lunch after updating to 17.10, so I went to the software boutique, to try to fix it but I ended up installing the new version, which works, which is great, but now I have 2 Skype in my application list. How can I uninstall only the old one?
Thanks!
I guess, if it was me, I would first remove the Software Boutique version via its own internal remove button.
Then, remove all/any other versions via the terminal:
sudo apt-get remove skype
sudo apt-get purge skype
Then, go back to the Software Boutique and re-install the version of Skype from there
If, for any reason, after doing all of the above, there are launchers of the old, non-Software-Boutique, version of Skype left in the menu, go into the menu editor and remove them.
Hi, thanks for the reply!! At the beginning didn't work, then I figure out that the package has another name. So I used:
sudo apt-cache search skype
In this case the name was skypeforlinux, with that I erase the new linux, then I tried with skype-bin, still there, but then I reboot and there was neither skype.
(I put this information because it might be useful to someone else)
Hi,
install Synaptic and then search for “skype” within that, you can see exactly what packages you have, you can also right click and remove or re-install!.
sudo apt install synaptic
