So far I'm really satisfied with this version, and I'm able to customize almost everything to my liking, except for the indicators on the top right. Is there a way to get rid of the little button that's right by the clock so the clock just sits at the edge instead of the button? Thanks!
The button at the right of the clock is what I'm talking about
I think it is somewhere in the taskbar settings having to do with applets. It's been about 6 months since I used Mate full time to recall correctly. Good luck.

This button is a part of ayatana-indicator-session. To remove it you have to visit Startup Applications (mate-session-properties), click Show Hidden and uncheck Ayatana Indicator Session
then reboot.
