How to install OpenVPN in Ubuntu MATE 16.04?

I am using Private Internet Access - OpenVPN, but I cant get it to work in Mate 16.04…
“- Is there any one out there” ho has the same issues ore even solved it

Private Internet Access has just now started to make guidelines for installations for Linux / Debian distroes through their Forum.

Hi SpacePunk,

I have used the procedure given at the link below to get PIA working on two Ubuntu MATE 16.04 systems.

http://chriseiffel.com/everything-linux/private-internet-access-vpn-ubuntu-linux-mint/

The PIA install script will produce an error about nmcli. After the script finishes type:

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager.service

If VPN connections cannot be edited from the panel choice ‘Edit Network Connection’, but you can edit Wireless or Wired:

sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn-gnome

Ref: http://www.regtechsupport.com/linux-and-open-source-software/34-pia-linux-mint

To remove an undesired PIA server remove the connection file for that server.
For example, to delete the Brazil server:

sudo rm “/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/PIA - Brazil.ovpn”

THANKS to @Eric49 for your "solving" input. I say "solving" because I am not sure if your recipe were the one ho got me connected with pia. If I just had the skills it seems that your settings would most certainly work. The thing is that I am an idiot when it comes to terminal work.... I have stayed with Ubuntu for the last couple of years and Ill probably reach confidence before I think I will. But for now I am just hanging on to logic and all the settings I have been through and… “what do you say” I actually got connected to day. Don’t ask me how ore what I did. It`s all a blur after 4-5 hours of trying to make the terminal my friend.
