How to lock user upon sleep or suspend?

I am using Ubuntu Mate 16.04. How do I lock the system when it goes to sleep or suspend?

I need to to display the lock screen when the system wakes from sleep.

Thank You

Feby

Sytem, Preferences, Look and Feel, Screensaver, checkmark “Lock screen when screensaver is active”. You will then be required to enter your password to gain entrance to the desktop.

Hi @feby,

you would be better off using a simple “Log Out” as sleep/suspend/hibernate in Ubuntu can cause problems!, just a suggestion.

Thank you. I would never have looked in screen saver settings. Haha!

What kind of problems?

You are entirely welcome feby.

Hi @feby,

things like the system freezing, not being able to go back to the desktop and generally things that cause the system to become unresponsive!.

Oh I’ve had those kind of issues with Ubuntu in the past, amazingly it is not happening now!

Hi @feby,

there might be something for you here but I don’t use any screen savers or suspend functions myself so I don’t really know!:
