How to Uninstall MATE UI and its packages of the Pi3?

I installed the latest Ubuntu Mate on my Pi3, whats the easiest way to clear it of everything MATE/GUI related to then use it as server? I do need the MATE image because its 16.04. I saw the other pi ubuntu flavors but they use a older Ubuntu version.

I also saw the way to the disable the UI, but that is not what I want, I want to remove those packages.

On the other hand, if anyone has a tutorial to compile the kernel and get other needed driver stuff to then use it with the official ubuntu server image, that would help/work too.

sudo graphical disable or use one of the server images from https://ubuntu-pi-flavour-maker.org :slight_smile:️

Did you read my post? Just asking because I said in the post that “I also saw the way to the disable the UI, but that is not what I want, I want to remove those packages.”
