Hp Wifi scanner

Hello everyone,

in the past i have installed ubuntu mate to a friend of mine, it has an Hp Envy 7640 multifunction device.

Wifi printing works fine, wifi Scanning via simple scan too, after choosing the device in the preferences, but he asks me if it would be possible to SEND the scan from the device to simple scan.

Otherwise for example having a book to scan and being the scanner on the 2nd floor, it will be a pain (2 floors up and down for every page - i know there is and adf but it won't work for books  ). He told me with Win it was possible. I don't have a wifi scanner so i'm unable to reply him.

Thank you in advance.

I have an EPSON Stylus SX245W, which also has a "scan to" feature on the unit similar to what you've described. :printer: Unfortunately, I concluded long ago that scanning from the scanner button only works with the Windows driver.

It might be possible if there is a HP driver for Linux that has a comparable to the Windows equivalent, but this goes outside my knowledge. Even so, there would be likely be a different scanning program from HP for the feature (if it exists) and wouldn't go through Simple Scan for technical reasons.

But, there is one easy option -- pick up the :printer: unit and place it next to the computer on the same floor. It is wireless after all.
