Check that it did not end up

  • in spam within your desktop client
  • in spam within your ISP webmail client

Also, get her to verify (spell out) the email address to which it was sent.

What is that the above ?

The email is not in my yahoo mail span folder.

have your daughter send you an email, hi Dad, and see if you get it.

If yes, she can send the HEB gift card again.

Thanks Eric.

I already checked those.

I think that vendors that sell gift cards make a lot of money by delaying someone from using their gift card.

They probably sell millions of dollars of gift cards.

If they can delay someone from using their gift card for 45 minutes,
they make a lot(make that a ton.) of extra money.

They make more money with “inactivity fees” that evaporate the value. IMHO only a fool buys gift cards. If you are too lazy to shop for your giftee, at least give them cash or mail a check, which is the “universal gift card”.

Now be nice.

I and many others are not fools.

Many businesses do NOT accept cash.

Gift cards let the person decide what they want to get.

However, there a limitations.

Most companies who issue gift cards decide what you will be allowed to buy.

Example:

Wallygreens does not allow you to buy certain items with their gift card.

So in effect, they determine what you can buy with your hard earned money.

I have one company that has no restrictions on what you can purchase with
their card.

In the US it says on the money: “Legal tender for all debts, public and private” so any business that would refuse to accept cash could become a target for lawsuits.

If this expands and starts to become the norm, I’d worry a lot more about .gov tracking your every move on and offline, than what Google gleans from my cellphone use and web surfing.

I understand the desire for businesses not to have a lot of cash on hand lest they be a target for criminals, but our insane crime rates are a separate issue.

Virtually all gas stations around here offer a discount for cash to avoid the CC interchange fees, as do many smaller businesses.

But life is complex, we buy most everything on credit cards, and pay in full every month. We make more in “cash back rewards” than we do interest on the 50K CD that backs the card and got us the “extra” cash-back bonus on all purchases. Plus, so far Uncle Sam is not demanding 22% of the cash back rewards like they do with the interest on the CD.

I do not know about you, but I only use my credit card in emergencies.
