iMac G5 PPC with iSight 20inch - Tested & Working SSD

Hi All,

Just a quick note that I bought and installed a 128 GB SSD and now working using Ubuntu ppc 16.04.2 LTS.

SSD - Sandisk 128GB ULTRA PLUS Serial ATA Solid State Drive SDSSDA

Computer - Imac G5 iSight 20 inch ppc

OS - Ubuntu Mate 16.04.2 LTS ppc

Ram - 1.5 GB

Compared to the previous 7200rpm HDD I was using in the IMac, I can now multi task and open applications so much faster than before.

I know there are limitations and speed decreases because of the iMac architecture and being a sata1.

But what i can now do with this old computer I am not complaining :slight_smile:️

I will report the speed tests later.

Nice one :slight_smile: - I also have an SSD in my Powermac dual core 2.3 - In my case an OCZ Agility 3 240gb (and a 2tb HDD as secondary). Not my main machine just tinkering really but its actually running really well.
