Incompatibility between Ubuntu Mate 22.04 latest kernel and NVDIA latest drivers

I think maybe /var/log/apt/term.log?

OK, I saved the log. How do I upload it? Maybe someone can read it and make sense of it. For me, it might as well be Klingon

Pastebin should be ok.

Ok, got it.

I am ignorant of this subject, but even I noticed that Livepatch did remove the 550 drivers. Without asking. And without replacing them with an updated version.

I also found out that for some reason, the update did not install the following packages:

linux-hwe-6.8-tools-6.8.0-87

linux-modules-extra-6.8.0-87-generic

linux-tools-6.8.0-87-generic

Once I did that myself, I was able to boot the 87 kernel, and the new drivers seem to be working.

Last but not least, if I try sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, I’ll get:

I seguenti pacchetti sono stati installati automaticamente e non sono più richiesti:
libnvidia-cfg1-550 libnvidia-common-550 libnvidia-compute-550 libnvidia-compute-550:i386 libnvidia-decode-550 libnvidia-decode-550:i386 libnvidia-encode-550 libnvidia-encode-550:i386 libnvidia-extra-550
libnvidia-fbc1-550 libnvidia-fbc1-550:i386 libnvidia-gl-550 libnvidia-gl-550:i386 nvidia-compute-utils-550 nvidia-firmware-550-550.120 nvidia-firmware-550-550.144.03 nvidia-firmware-550-550.163.01
nvidia-kernel-common-550 nvidia-kernel-source-550 nvidia-utils-550 xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-550
Usare "sudo apt autoremove" per rimuoverli.
I seguenti pacchetti sono stati mantenuti alla versione attuale:
libnss-systemd libpam-systemd libsystemd0 libudev1 systemd systemd-sysv systemd-timesyncd udev
0 aggiornati, 0 installati, 0 da rimuovere e 8 non aggiornati.

No errors in the log - but if there were missing modules then perhaps all that was needed was a apt full-upgrade. Glad to hear you got it working!
