Inconsistent Icon Display in Top Panel

Above are two screenshots made today of part of my top panel. I always add the Battery Charge Monitor applet to this panel but since upgrading to 18.04 I've found this icon is not always present. I may have added this applet several times thinking that the first attempts weren't successful but I left them all in for now to see if only one or some disappear. Also I added the eyes applet to see if it is applet dependent and the eyes are always there and never disappear.

Is this a known problem or is there something I need to tweak.

Mate panel have never been consistent (they have multiple issues to be solved) , you have to switch back and forth configuration… until somehow from god it works and remain the same after reboot.

Maybe this panels will work OK some day, as Mate developers have finished moving code to GTK, have added different panel configuration, and now maybe they have more time to fine tune the issues, we will see.
