Is there a way to insert special characters in my posts?
If so, will the same methods work on all forums etc?
For example the left and right arrows.
Character Map is an application pre-installed that can copy characters to different applications. Some can be accessed by holding Alt Gr, the compose key.
For instance, on my GB keyboard 
, I can press Alt Gr + U to produce a ↓ down arrow.
Providing the software, website or server uses UTF-8 encoding, the characters will show up, otherwise they may appear as square blocks.
Some characters depend on the font. For instance, this is an Ubuntu logo:
… but it appears as a block as the web font doesn’t have this character, but it will appear in Pluma if you copy and paste it (assuming default Ubuntu Mono font)
