Is there app for making use of a finger print scanner to input password?
Hi @mawil1013,
try the following links:
https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/session-fingerprint.html.en
https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint/+archive/ubuntu/fingerprint-gui
I hope it helps.
One Question; Using the web link for ; Using Fingerprint reader in 16.04, (I haven’t installed anything yet), so simply start at Instruction 1 and Walaa! ?
Which link are you referring to?.
I’m sorry, my mistake, it was link in the third link;
https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint/+archive/ubuntu/fingerprint-gui
Did it work for you?.
Haven’t had time to try it yet, been a hectic week! I’ll post back after attempt.
Hallo
Using biometric information for the identification of users is comfortable.
No one I know on the security side of IT would ever do this.
You can change your password as many times as you want (1 000 000 000), you have 10 (20 if you count toes) variations for fingerprints.
We leave our finger prints behind us everywhere we go. It is very easy to recover someone else’s finger prints, if that is what you do in life.
I only mention this because you may not have heard of this aspect of fingerprint “identification” previously.
The choice is, of course, yours to make.
As a home user, I prefer convenience over ultra security.
The generic Ubuntu instructions don’t apply here, I think. It does not seem like there is a GUI way in UM to enable fingerprint login.
