This is just a bit of follow-up. - Thanks again for the instructions. My final solution was to install an older AMD RX 550 gpu after removing the nvidia driver software. Works better than the nvidia hardware that it replaced.
I have just one thing of note as an FYI . While doing this work, I tested the UM 24.04.3 installer by trying to install 24.04.3 from an iso image on dvd to a fresh ssd. The installer failed every time at different places in the process. There were discussions of this behavior a year or so ago I believe. It appears that things have not changed. Such problems with the installer worry me and make me hesitant to promote UM as a replacement to Windows when old hardware like mine is involved. - Just an FYI. I don’t look for a reply.
