try using the following PPA AFTER removing the current installed PPA and the .kodi folder in your home (Ctrl + h to show hidden files):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kodi
And did you try running the following command like I posted earlier?:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Kodi is running fine on all my rigs so I suspect it is how he installed his system using a disk maybe?.
