Is this a bug?
Looking at MATE for a replacement, I created a live cd to play with. I normally run two monitors on the target box, one DVI and one VGA. This configuration runs fine with Ubuntu 16LTS.
Booting the live cd, runs but only shows the center portion of the normal start screen and welcome, but not the top or bottom bars. I can open a terminal and use issue commands, so the system seems to be operational.
Power off and disconnecting the VGA monitor and reboot, the full screen and capabilities return. > ?? > why ?
Testing on lap top with the same USB cd, Live runs fine.
Installing on that lap top, it runs fine.
I like Mate, but do need the two monitors and really don’t want to connect and disconnect to do work or Play 
Any ideas or suggestions?
