Login with password is not working

Hello Support,
I have ubuntu 17.04. reinstalled and set password.
Today I reinstalled ubuntu mate 17.10.1
When registering my username appears (this is the username, which I have used at 17.04.)
In addition, my password is required.
The password, event at 17.04 used, but is not accepted.
“password invalid, please repeat” appears.
How can I sign up?
How can I change my passoword?
