Looking for low battery notification

I love Ubuntu Mate, but I hate how it shuts off without notification
when I’m out of battery power. Does anyone know if there is a way to
configure it so that I receive a notification when the battery is
running low?

If you have the battery icon in the top panel, click on it and check the settings, there should be a box to warn you!.

Interesting idea django but if it isn’t a part of the system then I don’t know!.

Which version of Ubuntu MATE?

There should be an indicator and a daemon running that monitors the battery and shows notifications when your battery gets low or is plugged/unplugged. That's the behaviour on my netbook, which runs 15.10.

Try opening Power Management from System → Preferences → Hardware to see if this triggers the service. It should be automatically started when you log on (System → Preferences → Personal → Startup Applications) as "Power Manager".

You could execute the daemon from the terminal if these fail.

I’m sorry for the confusion guys! It started working now. I’m using the beta version of 16.04 and there are little glitches here and there. I should probably wait for the full release before making this one of my main systems haha
