What is the Mate Color Chooser used for? What does it effect?

It’s just an easy way to find colors from the screen, such as an image you have open.

I’ve used it to find the color of the MATE panel with the default theme so I could set my desktop wallpaper to be the same color. I’ve also used it to find colors in some images when I was designing a website.

I sense a topic split...

It would be very nice to have as an option for the MATE panel to use the colour of the desktop wallpaper, thus negating the need to match anything since mate-panel would match it automatically.

Sounds like a good feature, but I do the opposite :stuck_out_tongue: I like a plain, dark background, so I set the desktop to be the same color as the panel so that the panel blends in.
