Mixxx not available for Ubuntu Mate?

When I apt-get intall mixxx, I get following message:

Package mixxx is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'mixxx' has no installation candidate

I tried before through the software apps, and then I can’t download the program itself either (some part of it, but useless without the program itself).

Why is this?

Hi,

try changing your software sources download location and try installing again as it is showing in Synaptic using UM 16.04:

My install of Mixxx worked first time using Synaptic - I am on the UK source

So; is it solved now?. :smiley:

I’m at work, but I ‘m impatient to test it. I’ ll let you know the result as soon as I know more.

I installed Mixxx without any problems, I’m on the dutch repos. Could be that the repo isn’t updated yet.

This is my selection:

I downloaded synaptic, but that doesn't make any difference (as one would expect):

nope :frowning: :wink:

I posted my configuration, maybe that helps?

Weird problem you have.

I wonder if there is anything in your sources.d that could give a clue.

Code:
tail -v -n +1 /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*

Result:

==> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/flexiondotorg-ubuntu-minecraft-wily.list <==
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/flexiondotorg/minecraft/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/flexiondotorg/minecraft/ubuntu wily main

==> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/flexiondotorg-ubuntu-minecraft-wily.list.save <==
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/flexiondotorg/minecraft/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/flexiondotorg/minecraft/ubuntu wily main

==> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list <==
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main

==> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list.save <==
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/ppa/ubuntu wily main

Maybe I should try the “Dutch repo’s” like wizd3m said, but how do I do that?

Put a tick in "Multiverse", 4th box down:

Already tried that, it’s selected right now (when I posted the configuration, I thought of doing that).
But it’s not a disaster, I can download and use Mixxx without a problem on Raspbian and I have Raspbian on another SD card.
If it was a known problem or easy problem, I would fix it. I’ll be a DJ on Raspbian, not Ubuntu :slight_smile:

Did you click on “Reload” after selecting it and then try installing it again?. :smiley:

I tried it now you mentioned it, but it didn’t help.

Could it be your apt list? Lets refresh it.

Code:
sudo mv /var/lib/apt/lists /var/lib/apt/lists.old
sudo mkdir /var/lib/apt/lists/partial
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

As you mentioned Raspbian I take it that you want to install Mixxx on Ubuntu-Mate for the Raspberry Pi. I looked up the packages for Mixxx and I do not see an armf build for Mixxx. So I guess it isn't available for the Arm chipset.

Just a friendly hint: Please state in the original post for which platform you want it to be installed (15.10, 16.04 or Raspberry) You probably would have gotten the answer sooner.

Okay, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it would be important, but I understand now.

On Raspbian Mixxx works perfect, so is it necessary to be build for that ARM processor?

Usualy when package is available in debian it will become available in ubuntu. Just a matter of time. Whether the same is true for Mixxx, I do not know. Maybe @wimpy can answer this one :slight_smile:

If Miixxx is in the Debian archive it should be available in the Ubuntu archive for armhf.
