Mouse clicks lost after startup

Has anybody else noticed that the first few clicks of the mouse on the GUI straight after login are “lost”? It may take two or three goes to start an application, then after that it is all pretty plain sailing. I have the System Monitor running and even when all initial activity is allowed to subside, a couple of clicks can be “swallowed” with nothing happening.

If this is unusual, and probably my fault, can anyone suggest why UM might be doing this? The system is running well generally speaking and it is only a minor irritation, but just a bad look, as it just gets the day off on the wrong foot.

I am not trying to be sarcastic or clever here, but I thought that multi-tasking and buffering IO events would be a doddle for Linux. It occurs on both my single core 32bit (not much on it) and quad core 64bit (quite a bit on it) machines.
Any suggestions?
Rob

Hi Rob

A while back I had this happen to me on 16o4. It went away after a while, hasn’t been back. Try running a manual update.

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade && reboot

Hi @robwlakes,

further to @anon42388993’s suggestion, try moving the mouse to a different USB port, do it when the PC is switched off.

(I am still having problems with right clicking myself! :frowning: )

Yes, I have noticed this for a second or two following login

This still continues to frustrate me every time I logon. Even if I wait minutes after the login has been successful, the first application I choose to run takes more clicks that it should. Any ideas? I use a USB wired Mouse so there should not be any “connect” issues?
